See you in Suwon~ I’ll be back again soon.

Seollal was lovely. Suwon was lovely.

I decided on Saturday that I wanted to go take some photographs at Hwaeseong. Would I make the sunset? It was going to be close. Even if I missed it, I knew I’d hit some good lighting along the way.

There were 3 minutes of sun left when I made it to the top of the mountain. Maybe I’d have had another 5-10 minutes if Korea wasn’t so mountainous.

Yet, in those few minutes while the sun was still a full ball above the horizon, I felt lucky. I watched it go down. I took a picture or two that I didn’t particularly like. Mostly, I soaked it in. The sun was a giant red ball and looked awesome off in the distance. Yea, we soaked it in alright.

I’ve been working on shooting a more cinematic style lately. These days, I’m about ready to start making videos. I hate that I feel like I have to but it’s the future of media.

And, dangit, I’m too young to cut myself out of the potential that comes with that! I have a great camera for making 4k video in the X-H1 and with some lessons on grading, I know I can put together some interesting things.

Actually, I’ve been thinking a lot about making history content on Korea. Of course, I’m super busy but it can come together. The more I look around online, the content for Korea is pretty shallow. None of it goes into any great detail about history outside of some choice Seoul locations. It could be a lot of fun, I think.

Expect more cinema style. Expect some videos, expect some history and expect me to take a long time to do everything.

But that’s okay just like it’s okay to start a sentence with but. It’s my blog and I can do that. View numbers are still pretty low right now but it’s been creeping up. I’ve been really content to combine everything into the one site. It’s been making me happy. It’s been making life easier.

All the shots were done on the X-H1, of course. We had a Konica 40mm f1.8 on the front, effective 60mm on that setup. Nice piece of glass. 60mm is a very usable frame for a city. I shot the Nikon F2as on 24mm lately, too. It’s almost hard to use but I need to take it out at night in Suwon. Some of these giant monuments can be shot from right next to them with that setup. I’m curious to see how that turns out.

Anyway, time for me to sign off for now. Sometimes it feels like I’m putting out content here for content’s sake but other times it feels like I’m helping myself process what I’m doing and where I’m going. At this point, I know the things I want
