It was a simple weekend. There is a lot going on right now, so fun time has been cut back a little bit at the moment. That’s okay!
With responsibility comes the need to mindfully splurge or enjoy something within reason. Lately, I had been craving a nice tonkatsu. It seemed to match the slightly chilly, overcast weather well.
There is a place close by that we’ve walked by a lot. My partner said she had gone before and it was good, too.

Delicious and consistent are the words I can think of to describe the experience. The tonkatsu was absolutely massive. We split a cheese tonkatsu and a traditional tonkatsu with a side of tteokbokki.
Strangely enough, the tteokbokki was notably delicious. It had a good kick and the flavor was pure and not a little tinny than tteokbokki can sometimes be. The spice hit just right and it was a great accompaniment to the tonkatsu.

The massive tonkatsu was well fried. The flavor notes hit well and the sauce was not overwhelming of the dish. The plating also allowed for a variety of textures to be tasted across the soaked and less soaked tonkatsu.
The cheese tonkatsu was solid all around. Normally, I’m not the biggest fan of cheese tonkatsu because it’s a little heavy in my opinion. Yet, it was great. The sauce balanced quite well, too.
Overall, it was a great experience. I am happy to recommend it. Quickly made and a nice self-bar, what more could you want?
Cheers!
