Jeju Pork Tonkatsu

I eat a good amount of tonkatsu. For that, I am guilty. Maybe once or twice a month, I will indulge.

One of the main reasons to eat it, in my opinion, is it is an easy single serving food with a nice variety. I eat a lot of kimchi jjigae and deokbaegi bulgogi downstairs at work, so when I’m out and about, I tend to lean into more exotic choices like Vietnamese food.

Consider this another entry here from over Chuseok. I was thankful that the place was open. Most restaurants were closed that day and I was quite hungry by the point I found somewhere to eat. The menu was quite extensive and more exploration would be warranted.

The best tonkatsu is a perfect blend of juicy meat and a nice crispy exterior. The sauce is sweet but not too sweet. The sides offer a nice tang in the salad and a salty miso soup to balance out the meal. This is simple another excellent entry in the library of tonkatsu. If you’re in Songpa-gu, it’s worth a stop.

Cheers, Hans.
